About SafeMeal

SafeMeal is an allergy translation card app for iPhone and Android, made by Moty Studio LLC for people who have to explain what they can't eat every time they eat out.

What SafeMeal does

SafeMeal turns your food allergies, intolerances, religious rules or diet into a card that a restaurant kitchen can read. You pick what you can’t eat once, say how serious it is, and the app shows the card in the language of the country you are in, with English under each line so that you and the waiter can point at the same words. The card is stored on your phone, so it opens without a signal.

For each food, the card also lists the local dishes that often hide it: the peanuts in a curry paste, the anchovy in a salad dressing, the wheat in a soy sauce. This list is researched country by country, because the risky dishes are not the same in Bangkok, Tokyo or Lima.

SafeMeal does one job. It does not scan menus or barcodes and has no restaurant directory. It helps you communicate, and it cannot check how a dish is actually prepared: always confirm with the restaurant.

Who it is for

How it is made

The foods, presets, card phrases and the dishes they hide in come from one catalog that we build and check ourselves. Each translation is checked so that it is the word a cook in that country would understand, rather than a literal one. The card’s layout is designed to be read at a glance across a counter: pictures, the kitchen’s own language, everything on one screen.

Privacy

Food profiles are health and belief data. They stay on your phone, or in your own account in the European Union if you choose to back them up. SafeMeal shows no ads, does not sell data, and never uses your foods or diet for statistics. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
